We started some 15 years back under a Banyan tree in the outskirt of Sujata Village with a purpose to give some basic education to those young kids who used to run after foreign tourist buses and individuals while they used to come and visit Sujata stupa (an ancient Buddhist site related with the life of Buddha prior to his enlightenment). Most of the children used to beg along the main road which leads to the Sujata stupa and spend the whole day doing the same thing until we came up with the plan to invite those children to play and learn new games and gradually we transformed that platform into a space of primary education by individual and local support.
Brajesh Kumar, the Secretary of the Trust and his dedicated team are providing education to around 270 children who are unable to go to school, either because of poverty or due to family circumstances.
Brajesh and his team firmly believe that every child has a right to education and they want to bring about changes in the lives of these young children.
In 2016, we had the privilege to be part of as a teaching ground of Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche during the Siddhartha festival held at Bodhgaya and being blessed directly by such a great teacher.
